HANDICAPPING SYSTEM
Each team will be given a handicap for adjusting the team score. The Wilkinson Scoring System will be utilized as follows:
Total points for a team are calculated from the table below using the individual handicaps. The team handicap is then determined by subtracting 12.5 from this total (subtracting 10 for a four person team).
A team with a positive handicap will have points added to their gross score whereas a negative handicap results in points being subtracted.
Player’s Handicap Points
0 to 4 6
5 to 8 5
9 to 12 4
13 to 20 3
21 to 28 2
29 and Over 1
Example #1:
Team #1 has handicaps of 9, 16, 24, 27 and 36 totaling (4 pts + 3 pts + 2 pts + 2 pts + 1 pt =) 12 points. Therefore, the team handicap is 12 – 12.5 = -0.5. Consequently 0.5 would be subtracted for their gross score to determine their net score.
Example #2:
Team #2 has handicaps of 4, 10, 12, 20 and 24 which totals 19 points (6 pts + 4 pts + 4 pts + 3 pts + 2 pts =) 19 points. Their team handicap of (19 – 12.5 =) 6.5 would be added to this team’s gross score to calculate its net.
Example #3:
Team #3 has only four players. Their handicaps of 18, 24, 30 and 35 yield a total of (3 pts + 2 pts + 1 pt + 1 pt =) 7 points. The team handicap would be (7 – 10 =) -3.
